Current Organizations/Projects that the Post supports:
VFW National Home: Assists military, veterans, and their families with children, by creating a foundation of services and resources to assist with personal needs.
Annual Summit County Standdown: Event where Veterans can receive -free of charge- necessary personal items.
Foundation of the Ohio Guard and Reserve: Provides support for families who members are deployed.
Warrior’s Journey Home: Provides spiritual healing and soul repair from the invisible wounds for veterans, families and the community.
Valor Home: The mission is to support homeless veterans in our community in their efforts to achieve greater self-sufficiency, including the ability to secure and maintain permanent housing.
Honor Flight: The mission of the organization is to celebrate American Veterans by inviting them to share in a day of honor at out nations memorials. All Veterans who have served in WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War travel together to visit the War Memorials in Washington DC.
Military Family Center/Pegasus Farm: The organization has partnered with Rotary Districts and other community resources to develop a comprehensive, community-based military and first responders center to meet the needs of veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and their families.
Annual visitation to Senior Living Facilities: December of each year the Post hires the barbershop quartet Pitch Blend and conducts a program of holiday music for numerous local facilities. Part of each program is to recognize the veterans who reside there.
MAPS: An air museum that displays airplanes, educational tours, and resources. It is an internationally known museum of aviation and serves as the center of aviation history for Northeast Ohio. History is not made by airplanes, but by the men and women who designed, built, and flew them. Western Reserve National Cemetery Advisory Committee: A foundation that supports the daily burial ceremonies.
Patriot Project: Provides Chiropractic care to all active military, their families, wounded warriors, and all Gold Star dependents.
Veterans Care Network: The goal of the organization is to help veterans gain self-reliance, improve the family’s financial situation in order to obtain a successful life.
SCORE: An organization that helps start, grow or successfully exit a business. Small business owners receive three or more hours of mentoring.
Ellet High School JRNROTC: Cadets assist in Memorial and Veteran’s Day Ceremonies.
WWII, Korea and Vietnam War Roundtable: The organization preserves the wartime biographies of regional veterans thru monthly meetings.
Grace House Of Akron: Provides a caring environment for Hospice for individuals without a caregiver, or can not afford a private caregiver.
Scout troops 380, 390, and 7390: Assist in Memorial and Veteran Day ceremonies.
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad: A nonprofit organization that preserves and restores vintage railcars and locomotives for future generations to enjoy. They provide an annual free train ride for Veterans.
